Matt Rochester

Head Fire was founded by animator Matt Rochester in 2003 and specialises in CG and Flash animation.

Matt Rochester graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a 1st Class degree in Animation. His degree film ‘Son’ was screened at several festivals including the Royal Television Society Student Television Awards where it was runner-up in the animation category. It was also a finalist in the ‘best international student animation’ category at FAN Norwich 2000. He continued at ECA and completed a Master of Design in Animation. His M Des film ‘Control’ also had success on the festival circuit winning Scottish Students on Screen Metro Digital Audience Award 2001, and becoming a best of the festival finalist in Long Shots 2001.

Since then he has worked on a wide variety of projects. He has been responsible for motion graphics, compositing, colour grading, editing, and directing on pilots, adverts, corporate presentations and short films.

Matt Rochester’s credits include;

Animator on the ‘KNTV Philosophy’ series through Super Umami. The series was produced by Tern Television for Channel Four Education.

Animation supervisor and animator for the television series ‘The Imp’, produced by Red Kite Animations, and currently being broadcast on Cartoon Network US and Disney Japan

Animator for BAFTA nominated series ‘The KNTV Show’ through Big Co. The series was produced by Tern Television for Channel Four Education.

Flash Animator for WeeWorld’s ‘Weemee. Weemees are personalized online avatars used by MSN, AOL and Skype among others. Matt’s animations have been used internationally by MSN.
Animator, compositing and grading for BAFTA nominated short film ‘Rogue Farm’.
