Hugh de Sales La Terrière

As of 2007 Hugh has been working as part of the Production team at Django films on the feature; ‘Sylvain Chomet’s: L’Illusioniste’ which is due to finish in 2009. His primary role being one of coordinating the day to day running of the second studio.
His additional role involves the preparation of reference materials for the animation team to work from, which subsequently requires working closely with key members of the art and animation departments.

Since graduating in 2005 with a BA(Hons) in Animation, from The Edinburgh College of Art, Hugh has worked as an Animator and Illustrator based in Edinburgh.

He has completed commercial pre-production work for Red Kite Animations in Edinburgh, and has also collaborated and worked on the following short films;

‘Skeins’ (2007) – A short creative documentary, centred round a knitting circle based in a pub in Leith, Edinburgh. Segues of abstract pixelation and stop frame animation splice together connections between characters. Produced by Lili Sandelin, directed by Paul Gray. Filmed in conjunction with Screen Academy Scotland.

‘Crow Moon’ (2006) – A short Animation, Cell painting work on this Cineworks/ Super Umami Ltd. funded film screened at the ‘Edinburgh International Film Festival 2006’, directed by Selina Cobley and produced by Sueann Smith.

‘The Store’ (2005) – Short Animation. Edinburgh College of Art Degree Film screened at the Filmhouse Cinema in Edinburgh and ‘Anifest’ in Trebon, Czech Republic in 2006.

‘The Day the Buffalo Escaped’ (2004) – Short Animation, Assistant animator to director Madévi Dailly‘

Current personal work includes his ongoing project; ‘Snowballing’ a working title short animation being treated for application to 4mations in the autumn 2009.
As well as harnessing multiple traditional techniques, his experience with a wide range of software, provides him with the ability to work in a variety of disciplines and media, allowing for numerous approaches to a given subject.
