Iain Gardner

Iain Gardner is a freelance animator living and working in Scotland. In 1999, he was listed in CREATION MAGAZINE as being one of the ’50 hottest names in (UK) animation’.

His first break in animation came as an apprentice at Richard Williams’ Studio. Animating at various studios in London, Iain would eventually direct his first film at TVC, ‘Akbar’s Cheetah’ which was commissioned by Channel 4 through its AIR scheme. This led to the opportunity to direct ‘The Squires Tale’ for S4C/BBCs’ BAFTA winning and OSCAR nominated series ‘THE CANTERBURY TALES’.

His most recent film ‘THE LOCH NESS KELPIE’ was produced for BBC Scotland and Scottish Screen as one of the Animated Tales of the World, and features a soundtrack specially composed by Icelandic group Sigur Rós.

His commercial work for ‘QUANTUM CLAIMS’ has been recognized by the British Animation Awards 2006, where it was programmed in their Public Choice Screening.

Recent work includes trans-vision animation for ‘Artemis’ which can be seen at various London Underground stations, and screens around the UK. He also animated two Mr.Tourette sketches for the second series of Channel 4’s ‘MODERN TOSS’, broadcast in 2008.
