Jessica Langford studied theatre design at Bristol Vic and animation in Prague. In 1981 she set up the Edinburgh Animation Workshop. Jessica is best known for her imaginative educational animation projects in schools including the Gaelic series Deabhan Beo for BBC Scotland and Village Views for Scottish Television plus numerous international workshops.

In 1998 Jessica set up Pomegranate Films. She is interested in combining animation and shadow puppets as part of dance and performance.

At the Still Point of the Turning World
An animation dance performance The Tron Theatre, Glasgow 2001.
In 2000, Jessica was awarded a Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland Award to work with a choreographer to explore the potential of animation and dance.
At the Still Point of the Turning World is a unique performance about time, growing old and the sense of loss, expressed through the transient illusions of sand, animation, shadows, dance and music.

The Gift: Commissioned by Channel Four Television in association with Scottish Screen. 2005. 9 minutes. Available on dvd.
A young girl rescues a seal and is given a beautiful mysterious shell that contains the gift of time…animated in sand. Composer Sally Beamish.
The Gift was premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2005 and selected for Leipzig, Hida (Japan) winner of the semi grand prix, Berlin 2006, Anifest (Czech), Brussels, Seattle, Zagreb, Hiroshima ‘Best of World Animation’, Animamundi Brazil and Palm Springs. Shown on Channel 4 Christmas 2005.
