Selina Wagner
I grew up on one of the remote islands of Orkney where my parents had a small-holdings farm. After years of battling with the wind and semi-wild animals, I decided to make the move to Edinburgh and study animation at the Edinburgh College of Art.
My student film, ‘Takuskanskan’ travelled the world in many festivals, bagging the Craft Award at the British Animation Awards, first prize at Animated Exeter and the Notice Prize at the Puchon International Student Animation Festival 2002, to name a few.
After my degree, I decided to work freelance which I now still do, working on all sorts of projects as animator and director. I was the designer and animator for the Scottish Power advertising campaign working with Axis Animation; I worked with SMG commercials to create local TV adverts for Inverness Airport; created banner ads for New Media Bureau and worked on ‘the Imp’, a series that is being shown on Cartoon Network in the US and Japan.
In august 2006, I completed a short animated film called ‘Crow Moon’ which premeiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. It has been screened at several festivals already, including the Projector Animation festival and Bradford Animation Festival.
I can create anything from nothing – just start off with a vague dream and I can come up with the ideas, the designs, the scripts, the character designs and the final product. From Christmas e-cards to full creation of adverts for TV broadcast…
