Funding your film, getting that job – The future of Scottish Animation

The Scottish Animation Network is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Scottish animation industry. We aim to raise the profile of all animation produced in Scotland from freelance animators to studio productions. Join us in celebrating the animation industry at it’s best.  We will look at the different challenges in producing independent short film and commercial content and what the future holds for both in the current economic climate.

Tickets cost £4 and are available at the GSFF website

We look forward to seeing you there!

Roll Out, Cowboy is a documentary following a 39-year-old country/hip-hop musician as he tours the American West during the 2008 Presidential election, directed by Elizabeth Lawrence.
Presented with this screening are exlusive extracts from Edinburgh based Matt Hulse’s Dummy Jim.

A decade in the making, Dummy Jim weaves documentary, animation, fiction and recently-discovered 16mm archive footage shot by profoundly deaf cyclist James Duthie who cycled solo from Scotland to the Arctic Circle in 1951.

After the screenings, the films’ directors Matt Hulse and Elizabeth Lawrence will take part in a ‘mutual’ Q&A.

Animate Projects, with support from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, seeks proposals for animated works that – in a broad sense – explore, question, subvert or confound our expectations of art and the ‘digital’.

We are looking to commission four works, at a budget of £2000 each, including artist’s fee. The commissions are available to UK-based artists, animators and filmmakers who can craft an inventive and engagingly provocative work.

The Digitalis Commissions are a part of Digitalis, a strand of activities for 2011 that focus on the potential of the digital space as a site for artistic production.
